The Germans are coming!

Basingstoke has strong sporting twinning links with its German twin town of Euskirchen and has an annual reciprocal Festival of Sport. This year’s event is hosted by Basingstoke and will see a variety of German teams visiting for a weekend of sport, competition, leisure and English hospitality.

St Mary’s Junior School are involved for the third year running and will be entertaining a group of school children over the weekend of June 26th to 28th. Everyone will participate in Swimming, Gymnastics, Netball, Hockey, Tag Rugby and rounders plus attend the final celebration evening at Milestones.

Such a positive exchange between the schools will continue to allow pupils to meet German youngsters, try different sports, potentially learn a little foreign language and hopefully make some new friends. St Mary’s plan to take a group over to Euskirchen next year again as part of the Festival of Sport.
