Year 5 have been having a huge amount of fun using Samba instruments in their music lessons this week. Linking in with their Rainforest theme, they have been learning and composing Samba percussion rhythms. The children have learnt about the instruments in the typical Carnival Samba Band and how to play them. They have learnt Samba Reggae and Mambo patterns and have composed rhythm “breaks” and call and responses. Using instruments from Hampshire Music Service, they have been able to get the feel of what it is like (and how loud it is!) in a Samba Band.
