Year 5/6 Football Tournament

On the 26th September the boys put on another fine performance...

St Mary's Year 5/6 boy’s football team attended the Inter Schools annual football tournament at Mays Bounty. We were lucky to have a real strong team of boys who worked well together. We won our first 2 games with ease and drew our 3rd match which saw us through to the quarter finals. We then put on another excellent performance winning 4-0 sending us through to the semis and again winning, although this was a much tougher game. Having reached the finals, we had to play Hatch Warren for the second time, having beaten them 2-0 in the group sections. Both teams put on an outstanding display of football, with the Hatch Warren goal keeper on magnificent form, saving 4 of our powerful shots, which were also on target. One moments lapse of concentration saw us concede a crucial goal with us finishing the afternoon with a silver medal. St Mary’s should all be very proud of their performance and team work.

A huge thank you to our parents and grandparents who assisted with lifts and coaching during the afternoon.
