Netball Finals

A superb afternoon of netball for St Mary’s children continued after reaching the Basingstoke Schools Finals.

The team played in Pool A winning all of their matches against; The Priory, Bramley, Cliddesden and Woolton Hill finishing top of the group. This amazing set of results ensured St Mary’s place in the semi-finals against Sherfield. This was a very challenging game which finished in a draw putting us into extra time. Our pupils worked hard to hold their nerve together, eventually winning the match 4-3, much to the delight of our ever supportive parents.

Through to the finals we came up against last year’s winners Burghclere, who were again an outstanding team. St Mary’s performed to the best of their ability with 100% effort, this match also ended 4-4, putting us into extra time yet again. The pressure this time took its toll but the team continued to support and encourage each other. The final whistle blew with us narrowly missing out on winning the tournament with a score of 4-6.

The team received silver medals and due to their superb performance are now through to represent Basingstoke in the Hampshire Games in the summer.
