As the finished sheep from church schools across the Winchester Diocese made their way to the cathedral for this year's Leavers' Services. Fr Alec was spotted carrying our sheep towards the cathedral, no mean feat, to join others in the centre of the cathedral for the service. On the way children sang a variety of songs including a rather raucous rendition of the Lord's my Shepherd. In the morning we spent time looking around the cathedral with children being surprised to find out the Cromwell brought his soldiers into the cathedral, as they did at St Mary's, and completely smashed the rose window. Local people collected the pieces and put it back together as the mosaic we see today. Other highlights of the morning for different groups were a chance to see the Winchester Bible and a visit to the crypt.  All of the children had written prayers on a sheep outline and thesse were placed in front of the altar in the Mary Chapel. After lunch on the green outside, we were joined by parents for the service itself, which as usual started with the parade of banners. The theme for the service was the story of the Lost Sheep which one of the schools helped to re-enact. Children from our school along with those from two other schools explained how and why their sheep had been decorated as it had. Included in the service was the Lord's my Shepherd and this time round it was sung beautifully! It was lovely to have Bishop Jonathan join us for the service which made it even more special.
