The Basingstoke U11 Team Table Tennis competition took place on 2^nd October at Aldworth School.  There were 7 boy’s and 7 girl’s teams, all consisting of 4 players, from 3 schools – St Mary’s, St John’s and Great Binfields.  All teams played each other which meant lots of games for the children with some games very close and resulting in a third set! 

After many games and a tense time waiting whilst all the scores were added up, the finals were announced between St Mary’s A team and St John’s A team for both the boys and girls.  I am pleased to say that St Mary’s won the girl’s final and have now qualified for the County Final which will take place in Southampton on 25^th November.  The boys narrowly missed out but still came home with silver medals which is a fantastic achievement as the standard was very high.  We also gained bronze medals in both competitions with both St Mary’s B teams gaining 3^rd place.

 As is always the case, we are very proud of all the children who took part who are always so sporting and enthusiastic and a real credit to St Mary’s and we wish Megan, Imogen, Willow & Mataya the very best of luck at the County Final.  Thank you also to all those parents who stayed and supported.
