Music Festival Success!

Trophies and Applause for St Mary's "Sensational" Music Groups

On Saturday 16th March, many pupils from St Mary's participated in the annual Basingstoke Music and Arts Festival.

All five groups represented the school incredibly well and there were many wonderful comments from the adjudicator. Here are just a few

St Mary's String Orchestra (Commended and First place):

"A lovely big string orchestra producing a delicious rich tone"

St Mary's Ukulele Club (Commended and First place)

"A lovely example of ensemble work with a refreshing sound!"

St Mary's Senior Choir (Distinction and Second place)

"Lovely phrasing and dynamics - all well controlled. Some good work here - Well done!"

St Mary's Brass Band (Distinction and First place)

"Here is a sensational sextet of brass players"

St Mary's School Orchestra (Distinction and First place)

"This orchestra and all it's players has a bright future"

Well done to all the children who performed, to all the parents who attended and to the many staff who gave up their Saturday for the festival. Thank you to Mr Llewellyn, Mrs Kershaw and  Mrs R Jones, our wonderful instrumental teachers who helped prepare some of the groups so well. Finally thank you to Mrs Chittey, Mrs Crowdy, Ms Wagstaff and Mrs M Jones who helped support, tune and accompany the orchestra and choir.
