Ancient Greek Adventures

This week our year 5 have had some training in how to be a Hophlite (Ancient Greek soldier).

As part of our learning, the year 5 children have visited the Gordon Brown Centre (in nearby Rotherwick) for some team building, character refining and fun challenges with an Ancient Greek theme.  We traversed the rejuvenated low ropes course, we marched together and we followed our commander in an assault upon Troy to rescue fair Helen.  The afternoon took a turn for some team competitions in an Olympic style where we threw wellies, discus, raced on space hoppers and ran a relay.  The day was also interspersed with seeing and petting the rabbits at the centre which was enjoyed by even the toughest of our warriors.  All in all a great day out.  Thank you to the staff at the centre.
