Church of England Junior School

St Mary's supports the foodbank.

Once again as part of the school's work on our value of Responsibility we are supporting the Basingstoke Foodbank.

As we do every year, St Mary's is proud to be supporting the Basingstoke Foodbank.  Pupils and staff from across the school are donating items for those in who find themselves in need within our local community.

“The foodbank was there when we really needed it, it was an absolute lifeline.”

The Basingstoke Foodbank don’t think anyone in our community should have to face going hungry. That’s why they provide three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to them in crisis. They are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.

The following three phrases encapsulate ALL that the Foodbank do and hope to offer:

Restoring Dignity - Showing empathy and respect for those experiencing crisis.
Reviving Hope - Promoting the message that God loves and cares for those in crisis and can bring hope where there is none.
Building Community - Enabling the wider community of Basingstoke and Deane to partner with us in supporting those in crisis, through donations of food, money and time.

The community of St Mary's hope to collect a vast amount of items to donate at the end of our collection this week.

Thank you to all the families who have supported us in this work.
