On Monday 16th December our year 3 pupils were treated to the Brodowski string Quartet who performed a set called "Santa's strings".

Pieces that were played included "Jingle Bells" by J Pierpoint, "Hark the herald" by F Mendelssohn, "Silent Night" by F Gruber and of course the heart warming "We wish you a Merry Christmas" trad. to complete the medley.

The children were introduced to Oscar Perkins (1st Violin), Catrin Win Morgan (2nd Violin), Felix Tanner (Viola) and Reinoud Ford (Cello) followed by a musical tour through many a festive melody. Together we unpacked what various musical terms mean, piano and forte just two, as well as the complexities of conducting!

The warmth, intellect and enthusiasm of the musicians rubbed off on the children as they were invited to participate in Corelli's "Charismas Concerto" by standing up for the faster parts and sitting for the slower parts much to the amusement of all.

Handel's "Messiah" reminded us of the magnificence of Jesus and we were all able to join in and sing to Hark the Herald Angels sing.

Many thanks to all involved in organising this festive treat for us.
