Church of England Junior School

Sport, Music and a Cathedral

We have been very busy of late!  We have competed in a county sports event, performed at the Anvil and our year 6 have attended Winchester Cathedral.

Hampshire Games

Earlier on in the year our Quadkids and tennis teams qualified to compete against teams from across Hampshire. The event took place at the Sports Arena in Aldershot. Well done to all of the children who took part. It was an amazing set of results for us with the Quadkids coming 3rd and the tennis players narrowly missing out on a medal in 5th place. A special mention to Izzie who was ranked 1st in Hampshire in the Quadkids event.

Anvil BAYO Concert

Once gain this was a wonderful evening's entertainment. The theme this year was 'Music through the decades'. We were treated to a wide variety of tunes ending the evening with Abba's 'Thank you for the music'. Well done to all the children who took part in the orchestra, dancing (it was great to see so many boys in out troupe) and narrating who gave up a lot of their own time to attend rehearsals. many thanks to Mrs Malone who not only prepared  our children for the event but as Chair or BAYO was responsible for organising this year's event.

Cathedral Leaver's Service

Year 6 spent last Friday at Winchester Cathedral to mark the end of their time in primary education. The day started with activities remembering WW1 and the children wrote postcards home based on some real examples. We then had the chance to have a look around the building and this year most groups got a chance to visit the crypt. After lunch, we had the service with hymns and prayers reflecting back on the early stage of education and our hopes and worries for the next stage as we move on to secondary school. It was a lovely experience and we returned to school with a special cathedral candle to use in our remaining acts of worship.
