Church of England Junior School

Year 3 2011-2012

Our Learning Journey

In Year 3 we have 6 topics which give us a great start to our learning at St Mary's.

  Autumn 1:
To build or not to build?

'In Year 3 we had a topic about the houses that are going to be built in Old Basing. Before we learnt that the houses were going to be built in Old Basing, the teachers played a trick on us. They made us think that the council where going to build on our school field. We were really angry so we wrote a letter to the council. As part of our learning throughout the half term we did a survey to see how many people wanted the houses to be built in Old Basing. We then used this data in our maths lessons to make bar charts.'Ethan

  Spring 1:
   What’s for lunch?
Every one has to have a balanced diet so they have to choose what they eat. The eat well plate helps people to understand why to eat healthy during there lives. To help us understand this better we went to our local Pizza Express and made our own healthy diet pizza. We wrote our own pizza instructions to send to the employees at pizza express. We all enjoyed them and had them for lunch when we got back.
