Year 5 visit Basing House

On the windiest day imaginable, our intrepid year 5 children visited Basing House as part of our local history learning.

On the windiest day imaginable, our intrepid year 5 children visited Basing House as part of our local history learning.  We were aided on our visit by the excellent English Civil War Society and the staff from the museum.  We were able to see and reason why it was that the du Port family and later the Paulet family made this their home as well as discovering all about the new, pretentious building materials used to build the original house (brick and glass).

We also saw evidence of the House being destroyed during the English Civil War and some of the recent archaeological discoveries.   Visit our photo gallery to see more pictures of the day.
