Year 5

Year 5 is a year where pupils are encouraged to think critically, take greater ownership of their learning and explore more complex ideas across the curriculum. In English and Maths, children refine their skills and tackle more challenging concepts, including persuasive writing, formal methods of calculation and interpreting data. Science investigations become more detailed, encouraging children to ask questions, test hypotheses and draw conclusions. Through History and Geography, pupils explore significant events, cultures, and environments, developing a deeper understanding of the world. Religious Education (RE) supports thoughtful reflection on different beliefs and practices, promoting respect, love and open-minded discussion. Creative subjects such as Art, Music, French and Design & Technology continue to inspire imagination and innovation. PE builds stamina, coordination and team spirit, while PSHE helps children navigate friendships, emotion, and responsibilities. Year 5  prepares pupils for the challenges and opportunities ahead.
