It was lovely to see the church packed on Wednesday night for our annual carol service. Well done to all of the children who read and thank you also to the adults who did a reading for us. Our senior choir sang beautifully – I think there may have been a few wet cheeks after they sang ‘Carry the Light’!
Thanks to the kind donations for our retiring collection, we were able to make a generous donation to The Camrose Centre in Basingstoke. The Camrose Centre is a drop-in centre for anyone who is sleeping rough, homeless or vulnerably housed within Basingstoke and Deane. They are a place where people struggling with accommodation can find a listening ear and companionship; as well as access to a hot shower, clean clothes, shoes and food packs. They also distribute tents, sleeping bags and rucksacks to homeless people in Basingstoke when they are available and can help with access to physical and mental health services with a local GP visits once a month. The Camrose Centre also provide information, assistance and the use of a phone to help with legal, financial and addiction issues that these vulnerable people may be facing alone.
Thank you to our school governors who provided and served the seasonal refreshments after the service and than you to to Paul Wright for playing the organ for and to Jo Chittey for accompanying the choir.
