    Bumper crop for the foodbank

As part of our focus on community responsibility, linked to Harvest time, we once again supported the Basingstoke Foodbank. The volunteers who collected your donations were astounded by the shear volume and it was a tight squeeze fitting them as well as all the tins, jars and packages into the car. Your donations will provide at least 40 emergency packs for local families in need in our local area. Thank you and well done.

  • Football Tournament

10 boys from Year 5 were selected to play in a 7 a side football tournament at Oakley Junior School against 10 other teams. The children worked really well together as ‘One Family’ giving encouragement and support which enabled us to win 3 games, draw 1 and lose only 2 by a close margin. Overall we finished in 4th position, which was an excellent result considering the wealth of talent attending the tournament from across the schools in the borough.

  • Race for life

    Published 02/07/14

It was a hot, sunny Wednesday evening in June when St Mary’s Girls ran the Race for Life! The girls had to run 5 kilometres which was a struggle in the sweltering heat! However, the girls persevered and managed to complete the race, some even with a sprint finish! Well done to Emma Robinson in class 5 for coming first out of the St Mary’s group. So far we have managed to raise £860 for cancer research but we are not yet at our target of £1000, so if you haven’t donated, you can still do so by clicking the following link: http://www.justgiving.com/owner-email/pleasesponsor/st-marys-old-basing

St. Marys B team consisting of Eloise, Rebecca, Phoebe, Katie, Evgenia, Amelia, Katie and Abigail performed exceptionally well at the May’s Bounty Cricket Ground. On losing their first match to Oakley, who had county and district players amongst the squad, the girls went into the 2nd game with determination to win with ease. The 3rd match was a closely fought battle and the girls needed just 2 runs to win but unfortunately missed out by 1 run.
