On Monday 21st January...
On Monday 21st January, 24 year 5 and 6 pupils travelled to the Costello School to participate in our cluster Indoor Athletics Competition. We were the only school lucky enough to enter an A and a B team, giving the opportunity for more children to represent St Mary’s.
Both A and B teams performed exceptionally well with wins in the 1 length sprints and relays. Our boys also achieved a 1st and 2nd place in the javelin and target throw and a win in the girls' and boys' speed bounce.
A total of 84 children took part, with our students reaching the top 4 in 41 events. A superb result, which now puts St Mary’s A Team in the Basingstoke Schools Finals on Tuesday 12th March at the Aldworth School.
Unfortunately, only one team from each school can enter the finals despite our B team finishing in 2nd place.
Both teams should be proud of their achievements and a special thank you to all our parents who supported everyone throughout the afternoon.
