Annual inter-schools football tournament

Year 5 Football Tournament Monday 19th September

St Mary's Year 5 boy’s football team attended the annual Inter schools football tournament at Mays Bounty, knowing that the school had never previously won the competition. The team have a mixture of standards with their strength being good team work. The first game against Bishopswood was an excellent start winning 2 – 0. Fairfields were our next challenge where we won 2 – 1. This winning streak continued against Cliddesden and finally we drew 0 – 0 in the last game. This result put us to top our group unbeaten. The semi-final was also produced a victory against Hatch Warren before we met Bishopswood again in the final. After a very well fought match it all ended equal at 1-1, so went to penalties. Both keepers pulled off one great save each and St Mary's won the game with the final kick of the game. This is the first time the school has ever won this trophy and the whole team should be congratulated on their performance.
