On Monday 16th January 12 children took part in our cluster's Indoor Athletics competition against 7 other schools. A total of 84 children participated in the event with all of our children performing exceptionally well.

During the course of the afternoon each child took part in 4 events which were; sprints, jumps, throws and relays. I am proud to say we won the majority of events with two 1st places, a 2nd & 3rd in the 1 length sprint, two 1st positions in the 2 length, alongside a 3rd and 4th. In the longer sprint we gained 1st and 3rd spot and won all of the relays.

The throwing and jumping events were performed in superb style, attaining seven 1st places, eight 2nds, and two 3rd positions.

The overall results throughout the afternoon were finalised, which confirmed that St Mary’s had won the event with a grand total of 510 points a massive 132 points ahead of 2nd place.

This amazing performance by St Mary’s pupils has secured our place in the finals on March 9th at the Aldworth School.

All children should be proud of their achievements, teamwork and sportsmanship which played a huge part in their success.

Thank you also to all those parents who assisted with transport and supported our team.
