Church of England Junior School

Year 5 see the stars

In the second half of the summer term, year 5 had a visit from an indoor planetarium to coincide with their science learning about the solar system and beyond.

As part of our learning about the Ancient Greeks and their legacy and significance today we also enjoyed learning about how they named the constellations, many still carry the same name today.

Nearly all the children loved the visit from http://www.sciencedome.org.uk/ and were able to witness a 3d surround view of the night sky from the comfort of the inflatable planetarium in our own school hall.  It truly was an experience that we could not have had without the helpful and informative NIgel from Spacedome.co.uk with many children inspired to find out more.
