Girl's Football County Finals

Once again St Mary's represented Basingstoke...

Once again St Mary's represented Basingstoke in another County Schools Final and this time in Girls football at Southampton. The tournament was a tough task with little rest between eight competitive games. However, the team did exceptionally well working together against talented opposition, with our traditional excellent support from parents. In closely balanced games St Mary's won against Fair Oak who finished fourth, drew with Oakwood, Castle, Grange and Newchurch and only lost 0-1 to Herne (Champions) and Velmead (Second) and 1-2 to Solent. The experience of playing in this competition demonstrated how skilled and sporting the St Mary's pupils are, considering how traditionally strong the football normally is in the south of the county.
