Harvest Food Bank Donations 2018

A school record donation of 292.22kg was made today to the Basingstoke Food Bank!

Thank you to everyone for your very generous donations to our Harvest Food Bank appeal. We donated a staggering 292.22kgs of food and other items, a school record!  After sorting the donations into categories we delivered them to the Food Bank in Basingstoke and were lucky enough to have a tour of the facility to learn more about the work done by all of the volunteers there. Thank you to Mrs Gundry who helped to transport the mountains of donations. Thank you once again for your very generous donations, they were much appreciated by the Food Bank and will be used to support members of our local community.

The Trussell Trust’s network of over 420 foodbanks operate out of more than 1,200 centres across the UK and  provide a minimum of three days’ emergency food and support to people experiencing crisis. In 2017/18, they gave 1,332,952 three day emergency food supplies to people in crisis. It is great to know that St Mary's have contributed to these supplies for people this year and into next.

The Basingstoke Food Bank is always happy to receive donations,  If you ever wish to donate in the future their website has up do date lists of items they are running particularly low on.

Thank you all again for your support for this charity.
