St Mary's Remembers

At 11:00 today the whole school took part in a a two minutes silence for Remembrance Day.

We marked the day World War One ended, at 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month, in 1918. During the an assembly we talked about the significance of this day and the reason for wearing poppy's.

Thank you to the Chamberlain and Bennett families who represented our school and Old Basing Infant school at special ceremonies at St Mary's Church, Old Basing and at the War Memorial Park in Basingstoke on Remembrance Sunday. The children laid wreaths on behalf of both of the Old Basing Schools.

Prior to Remembrance day everyone in our school community made a poppy to help create our whole school wreath - we will remember.
