Indoor Athletics January

On Monday 27.1.14 from St Mary’s competed in a local indoor athletics competition against 6 other schools.

The boys performed extremely well with overall wins from Sam in the 1 length sprint, Nathan - shot putt, Tyreese - triple jump, Cameron – Speed Bounce and the 4 x 1 relay consisting of Nathan, Sam, Tyresse, and Lewis. Tom attained 5th in the 3 length run, 6th triple jump whilst Sam came 2nd – long jump, Tyreese 3rd shot putt, 2nd 1 length sprint and Lewis 4th 2 length sprint. The boys amassed a grand score of 206 points 28 points ahead of 2nd place a superb effort.

Not to be outdone the girls had wins in shot putt and 1 length sprint by Harriet, 2 lengths Erin, Lucy 3 length run and speed bounce also the 4 x 1 relay in which Hannah, Harriet, Amy and Erin competed in. Other fantastic results were; Amy 3rd – 1 length, Harriet 4th – long jump, Erin – 2nd speed bounce, Hannah – 2nd 2 x 2 length and triple jump, Lucy – 2nd javelin and Keleigh Anne 2nd in the long jump. Their total score of 233 points was 29 ahead of 2nd position so overall St. Mary’s boys and girls won the event with ease with a total of 439 points, 2nd – Gt. Binfields - 382 points 3rd – Rucstall, 4th – Marnel, 5th – South View, 6th – Sherborne St. John and 7th Fairfields.

A huge thank you to all the parents who assisted with lifts and stopped to support the children.

The finals will take place on March 27th at Brighton Hill School.
