On Wednesday 29.1.14 we held another open day for our current parents (plus grandparents & the like) as well as any future parents from year 2 whose children are currently at Old Basing Infant school.

There were two sessions, one first thing in the morning and one in the afternoon, which both had a similar feel to them. The aim of the day was to provide parents with the opportunity to see learning across all years at St Mary's. In the classrooms was an eclectic mix of lessons from creating a short animation to designing a new robot, from applying multiplication skills to demonstrating shooting skills in netball, from French to writing a Shakespearean play script using modern English. In addition to this there were a number of stalls available in the hall for parents to browse which included, to name a few, our local secondary school (Costello), HC3S catering, Sports Xtra (an after school clubs provider with the school) and the Parish Council.

All in all it was a good day for everyone involved and the feedback from parents was 100% positive.  Many thanks to all who attended, if you were unable to attend and would like to meet with us do please contact the office to make an appointment. If you would like to see a copy of the PowerPoint from the presentations by the head teacher and English leader please see below.  The presentation includes details about reading for pleasure as well as information about the new curriculum.
