Over the past 3 weeks, St Mary's have entered teams into the Basingstoke Year 5/6 7-a-side boys football competition, the Basingstoke Year 5/6 7-a-side girls football competition and the Year 4 Tag Rugby tournament (in assosciation with London Irish and Basingstoke RFC). The children involved have shown fantastic sportmanship and perseverance at these events and continue to make us proud!

Rugby Report 1^st April 2014

As a result of London Irish Players coming into our school to coach year 4, nine children were selected to play in a competition at Basingstoke Rugby Club.

Our 1^st match, against Manor Field ‘A’, proved successful with 2 tries from Jimmy and 1 from Ben winning 3 -1.

We continued our form in the next game and although a little tougher, we still managed to overcome the opposition with tries from Liam and Ivan.

Each game seemed to test us even more but we fought hard against Manor Field ‘C’ coming away with a 2 -2 draw, again with tries from Ben and Ivan.

Finally, we met Hatch Warren’s ‘A’ team which proved to be one step too far. Despite 2 brilliant tries, we lost 3 - 2 although the score did not display how much effort we put in!

Overall, out of 10 teams, we came a creditable 4^th, the other amazing team members were: Holly, Aidan, Alice, Scarlett and Maizie.

Many thanks must go to our fabulous parents and grandparents who assisted with transport.
