Church of England Junior School

St Mary's Remembers

The St Mary's community commemorate Armistice Day.

At 11:00am today the whole school took part in a two minutes silence for Armistice Day.  We marked the day World War One ended, at 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month, in 1918.

During Act of Worship on Wednesday, we talked about the significance of this day and the reason for wearing poppy's prior to today's silence.

On Sunday two of our pupils, along with their sibling from the infant school, will lay a wreath on behalf of the Old Basin schools' at the war memorial at St Mary's Church as part of the Remembrance Sunday Service.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning

We will remember them.
