Church of England Junior School

Try an instrument session

So much MUSICAL fun for year 2s and 3s!

On Wednesday 25th May, we welcomed our year 2 friends after school to join us for a "try an instrument" session. In one room, we had Sam in year 6 demonstrating drumming alongside Mr Lambourn our keyboard teacher. In another room we had Mrs Linehan-Hill and her piano pupils talking about the piano. A third room had our cello teacher Mr White ably assisted by Jenny in year 5 as well as Mrs Kershaw, our violin teacher, being supported by Mrs Morris and Abi in year 4 letting children have a feel for what it's like to play the violin or viola. In the last room, we had Mrs Ludford showing the children the flute, oboe, clarinet, sax and bassoon - all of which she played to the children with the help of Tristan, Isabella, Charlotte and Serena. Alongside the woodwind, we had the brass instruments. Although not allowed to blow, the children could feel what it's like to play the instrument and listen to Mrs Holmes, Rowan, Max and Arthur.

If you'd like to see some photos of the kind of instruments we learn at St Mary's - click here to see the school orchestra on Jubilee day.

If your child would like to learn a musical instrument, please complete the form attached below and return to Mrs Malone via email (r.malone@st-marys-jun.hants.sch.uk)
