Church of England Junior School

Year 3's Roman Day

Year 3 find out more about the Ruthless or Remarkable Romans.

The wonderful Openbox Theatre Company visited out school to teach the children more about Roman life and the Roman Empire. The children were taken back in time on a historical journey and used their teamwork and drama skills to conquer the mysterious, misty island – Britannia. The children learnt more about Roman baths, the different invasions and even took part in their own Roman banquet where some children were made to be slaves! The main highlight of the workshop, was the children become fully fledged soldiers who were ready for battle. We saw some excellent marching and formations. Overall, a fantastic day had by all!
