Keep the Memory Alive

We have signed up to ‘Keep the memory alive’, this year’s theme, by reading some of the stories about people who either lost their lives or were separated from family and friends.

We have signed up to ‘Keep the memory alive’, this year’s theme, by reading some of the stories about people who either lost their lives or were separated from family and friends. As well as the well-known stories of Anne Frank and Rose Blanche, we have found out about Joan Salter (born Fanny Zimetbaum) who was shipped to safety in the USA aged only three years old. We have also learned about Emanuel Ringelbaum who organised the collection of everyday items such as; newspapers, photos, tram tickets and even sweet wrappers from the Warsaw Ghetto to form a memorial to all those who did not survive. This is known as the Oneg Snabbat and is listed on the UNESCO Memory of the World register as a document of outstanding universal value.
