Year 5 visit Basing House

Basing House is always our first trip of the year and it was an incredibly successful day full of learning.

Year 5 went to explore the ruins of what was once the biggest Tudor house in Britain. During the day, we explored many different artefacts found at the site and toured the ruins using GPS devices or the expertise of our hosts at the Hampshire Cultural Trust (HCT). We also learnt how to load and shoot a musket, load a cannon and how to use a pike. We would like to thank all those people who made the visit possible, especially the volunteers who came with us, the HCT and the amazing English Civil War Society who joined us on the day. Photos will be shared in an album tomorrow once we have sorted through them all!
