At St Mary’s we believe PE is about more than just exercise. It’s about joy, confidence and giving every child the chance to shine. We want our children to leave school with healthy bodies and healthy minds and with a love for being active that lasts a lifetime. Physical Education is woven into our school life, helping children understand how their bodies work, building resilience and encouraging teamwork and determination.
From the moment children join in Year 3, they begin an exciting journey through a wide range of physical activities. Our beautiful school grounds give us plenty of space to explore movement outdoors and the Daily Mile is a regular feature of the week, helping children stay active and focused. PE lessons are inclusive and varied, covering everything from gymnastics and dance to team sports. As children progress through the years, they develop skills, confidence and a sense of fair play.
One of the highlights of our year is Sports Day, a real celebration where every child takes part and feels the thrill of achievement. Alongside this, we offer opportunities for competitive sport with teams representing St Mary’s in events ranging from football and rugby to table tennis and even bowls. These experiences help children learn about teamwork, perseverance and the excitement of healthy competition.
We make sure every child has the chance to enjoy being active and discover what they can achieve. Using Love, Courage and Creativity, all children can achieve more together.
