March - July 2020 resources
On the right are a collection of different resources that we hope will be of use to you in supporting your child's learning.
During an Emergency School Closure teachers will endeavour to add further resources on their specific year group pages.
The COVID19 virus continues to present challenges for us all, but in particular for younger children as they adapt to the new social distancing measures and forms of learning.
Follow the link below to the governments guidance for parents and carers which is being updated on a weekly basis. Included in this are many links to resources to support home learning, well-being and online safety:
Below is another link to a short animation, story book and activities to help support you as parents to tackle misinformation and to help children understand the virus.
Attached below is a reminder about the Peace Pole challenge that we started during the Week of Holocaust Memorial Day. It would be lovely to see them sprout up in the community as a message to all during these difficult times. Good Luck and send us your pictures.
See attached document for whole school values activities as we approach Easter. We have also started a new page for weekly acts of worship, which we hope you will find helpful.
23.3.20 - Also attached below are the overviews for the Summer term from 2019 which may provide some inspiration for themes and ideas for those who may wish to be looking ahead.
In line with the DfE updated advice about Safeguarding in the light of COVID19 we have produced an addendum to our full Child Protection Policy which reflect the situation we now find ourselves in. The policy is listed in the School Information Section of our website on the Policies page.
Update 27.5.20 - Update from our friends in Uganda
As we are coping with a new situation and way of life at the moment in our country, I thought it would be a good chance to also consider our friends around the world who are experiencing new challenges and adapting to different routines. Below is a link to a video update from Dodie about how our link school in Uganda are doing - the school, like ours, is close for the majority of students and most of the children live in very rural areas so are having to help out with farming, gardening and cooking to provide for their families.
As you watch this video, you could think about these questions:
- What is similar about life in England and Uganda at the moment?
- What can I be thankful for in my life?
- How can I remember people around the world at this time?
I hope you enjoy watching the video and hearing about our global friends.
Thank you and well done to those children that have already completed some of the Diocesan Challenges that were suggested a couple of weeks ago. Photos of these can be found in our 19/20 Photo Gallery. We have received a few more of these challenges and I have added them to the resources at the bottom of this page. As I said before, they are lovely activities to do at home - either independently or as a family.
Enjoy having a go at something different and do continue to send in any photos!
As we begin the month of May, I would like to point you in the direction of our Happiness Calendar for this month - Meaningful May. This resource shares some great ideas for refocusing our minds on what really matters and gives us ways to engage with ourselves, others and the world around us!
I have attached a photo in the resources below. Enjoy!
Below, you will see some added Diocesan Challenges. These resources have been sent to us from Winchester and Portsmouth Diocese and they include some lovely activities for you to try at home, linking to our RE learning. Take a look and see if you are up for the challenge of completing any of them! We would love to see any photos of your work - you can send them to your teacher's email address.
