Safer Internet Day
On 5th February 2019 St Mary's took part in Safer Internet day and completed activities based on what permission means, how to be safe on the Internet and what to do with your personal data. This aimed to build on what they already knew about the Internet and protect them from the ever changing digital age.
Internet safety can be a challenging topic to discuss sometimes, with many children thinking that adults don't know what they are talking about when it comes to social media or gaming. An interesting study found that 25% of 4 year olds in England actually own their own electronic device. With the accessibility of electronic devices, it is now more important than ever to be continuously talking to children about their responsibilities and roles they have when on the Internet.
Attached below is some guidance on what to talk about and how to talk to your children about it, websites to visit, information to look at and family agreements.
